Juvederm Fillers at Oshun · Kingston, Jamaica

Volume.
Not overfilled.

Juvederm at Oshun is performed by Dr. Charles Rockhead — board-certified, conservatively dosed per millilitre, and mapped to your face. A thirty-minute visit, a two-week settle check, and a result that looks like you with a little more of what you started with.

Four things that are true of every visit

Filler by an OB/GYN

Every needle at Oshun is placed by a board-certified Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. Most filler in the Caribbean is delivered by aestheticians or nurses. Dr. Rockhead is a physician first — the same one who treats women's health on the other side of his practice.

30 years caring for women

Three decades as a practicing OB/GYN at Amadeo Medical Group, the parent clinical practice. Every Juvederm plan is reviewed by a physician who has cared for women through pregnancy, surgery, perimenopause, and post-natal recovery — not just injection appointments.

Mapped per millilitre

Every patient gets a chart with their injection sites and per-area volume in millilitres drawn out before any syringe is opened. Returning patients refine the same map — they don't start from scratch every visit. Continuity in writing, not just in promise.

Reversible, by design

Juvederm is hyaluronic acid — and HA fillers can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if a patient is unhappy with the look. Oshun stocks the reversal agent on site. Permanent fillers and biostimulators are not used here. Conservative, considered, reversible.

The honest version

Why most filler disappoints.

The reason filler sometimes goes wrong is rarely the product itself. Juvederm is FDA-approved, used in tens of millions of treatments worldwide, and clinically very safe in trained hands. What goes wrong is how it gets placed.

The common pattern across cosmetic clinics: placement delegated to a non-physician injector, no record of how many millilitres went where last time, no reversal agent stocked on site, and a headline "per syringe" price that conveniently skips the consultation conversation about anatomy. When results come, they're either too subtle to matter, too obvious to hide, or off-balance enough that the patient feels like a different version of themselves.

At Oshun, we don't run that model. The four points above — physician-placed, per-millilitre mapped, fourteen-day settle check, on-site hyaluronidase — are how we replaced it. The rest of this page explains the alternative in plain language so you can decide whether it sounds like the right approach for you.

A Juvederm visit at Oshun takes about forty-five minutes from the moment you walk in to the moment you walk out. Here is what happens in those forty-five minutes.

i.

Facial mapping (~15 minutes)

Dr. Rockhead studies your face at rest and in motion — how your lips part when you smile, how your cheeks settle when you talk. The volume you've lost (or never had) is rarely symmetric. The exact areas and per-area millilitres are drawn into your chart before any syringe is opened.

ii.

Preparation (~10 minutes)

The treatment area is cleansed with medical-grade antiseptic. A topical numbing cream is applied and given five to ten minutes to take effect. The Juvederm formulation we use already contains lidocaine, so the comfort layers compound.

iii.

The placement (~15 minutes)

Dr. Rockhead uses a fine needle or a blunt-tip cannula depending on the area, placing the planned millilitres at the planned depths. Each placement matches what was written down at step one. Nothing is improvised; nothing is added without your spoken consent.

iv.

Walk back out (~5 minutes)

You see the volume immediately in the mirror. Small marks or a little swelling at the placement points usually settle over the first 24–48 hours. There is no anesthesia and no bandage. You can return to work or meet friends the same afternoon, though some patients prefer to wait a day before being seen on camera. We email a two-week settle-check reminder before you reach your car.

Every Juvederm placement at Oshun is performed by Dr. Rockhead personally — never delegated to nurses, technicians, or junior injectors. What it isJuvederm is the brand name for a family of FDA-approved hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers — a smooth, biocompatible gel that mimics the volumising substance your body already makes. We use it to gently restore volume the face has lost or to enhance contours you'd like more of, without surgery and without permanence.
How long it's been aroundJuvederm has been FDA-approved for cosmetic use since 2006 (initial approval for nasolabial folds), with expanded indications added over the years for lips, cheeks, chin and jawline. There are nearly two decades of clinical safety data behind the product family.
What we treat with itLip volume and definition, cheek volume restoration, nasolabial folds (the lines from nose to mouth), marionette lines (mouth to chin), and jawline contouring or chin projection. Every plan is tailored to your existing anatomy — we add, we don't replace.

How much you'll needJuvederm is measured in millilitres (ml). Typical first-time starting volumes are about 0.5–1.0 ml for lips, 1–2 ml per cheek, 1 ml per nasolabial fold, 0.5–1 ml for marionette lines, and 2–4 ml per side for jawline contouring. Your exact plan is mapped out at consultation — we'd rather you start under and add at follow-up than start too high.
Will it hurt? Most Juvederm formulations contain lidocaine, so they numb as they go in. We also apply a topical numbing cream beforehand at no extra cost. Most patients describe it as a brief pinch followed by gentle pressure.
How long the visit takesPlan for 30–60 minutes from arrival to walking out the door, depending on how many areas are treated. The injections themselves take ten to twenty minutes.
Time off afterNone for most patients. Small bruises or swelling are common in the first 24–48 hours, especially in the lips. You can drive yourself home and return to work the same day, though some patients prefer to wait a day before being seen on camera.

When you'll see resultsYou see the volume immediately as the product is placed. Initial swelling settles over the first few days and the final look is visible by about day 14. Duration varies by area: lips 6–12 months, cheeks and jawline 12–18 months, nasolabial folds 9–12 months. Movement-heavy areas (lips, mouth) tend toward the shorter end.
The days before your visitSkip alcohol for 24 hours beforehand. If it's medically safe for you, also skip aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, and other blood-thinning supplements for about a week — these lower the chance of small bruises. Tell us about every medication and supplement you take, and let us know if there's any chance you may be pregnant or breastfeeding.
Right after your visitAvoid heat, vigorous exercise, hot tubs, saunas, and facials for the first 24 hours. Skip makeup for six to twelve hours so the puncture points settle cleanly. Sleep on your back the first night if you can. Ice gently for any swelling. We email a check-in two weeks later.
Two-week follow-upWe see you back at the two-week mark to assess how the filler has settled and to check for any small asymmetry or palpable lump. If a top-up would help, it's billed at the standard per-ml rate — and if anything looks off, hyaluronidase can dissolve some or all of the placement, on site, that same visit.

Consultation policyEvery patient meets Dr. Rockhead in person at the 9 Devon Road clinic before any treatment is scheduled. (Virtual consultations are not currently offered.)
Where treatments happenOshun Cosmetic Services, 9 Devon Road, Kingston, Jamaica. The same address, the same medical team, every visit.
What it costsJuvederm at Oshun is priced per millilitre, not as a flat package. At your consultation you'll receive a written quote with the proposed areas, the millilitres for each, and the total — so there are no surprises before any syringe is opened. We don't advertise a single number because two patients with the same concern often need very different volumes.
How to payCash, debit, credit card, or approved financing.
InsuranceCosmetic dermal filler is not covered by insurance, which is standard everywhere. In rare medical cases (e.g. HIV-related facial lipoatrophy) coverage may apply — we provide itemized receipts and the proper diagnostic codes that you can submit to your insurer yourself.
Who should not have JuvedermPatients who are pregnant or breastfeeding, who have an active infection at the injection site, who have a known hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid or lidocaine, or whose immune-modulating medications would compromise safe placement. Dr. Rockhead reviews your full medical history at consultation before anything is scheduled.
Is Juvederm right for you

Four people who get the most out of Juvederm at Oshun.

Juvederm isn't a one-size category — the right area, the right millilitres, and even whether to start at all depend on where you are. Below are the four patient profiles we see most often. If one sounds like you, an in-person consultation at 9 Devon Road is the next step.

First-time lips

Subtle definition, not a different mouth

First-time lip patients often ask for "just a tiny bit." Oshun starts at 0.5 ml or less, focuses on shape over volume, and revisits at the two-week settle. Two patients can use the same volume and look entirely different because anatomy decides the result — that's why we map first.

Volume restoration

Late-30s onward — mid-face refresh

The cheek and temple volume the face loses through the late thirties is the structural reason "tired" becomes visible. A conservative 2–4 ml across the mid-face, placed by anatomy, restores the support that everything else is sitting on. Filler is the lift; nothing else is needed.

Jawline contouring

Definition without surgery

Jawline and chin filler creates the sculpted shape that ten years ago required surgery or genetics. Typical plans use 2–4 ml per side over one or two visits. Combines well with masseter Botox for full lower-face balance.

Combination plans

Filler with Botox at the same visit

Many patients get both at the same appointment — Botox for the lines that come from movement, Juvederm for the volume that comes from time. They work on different problems, and combining them in one consultation means one plan, one set of follow-ups, one written quote.

If this sounds right

The next step is a conversation, not a commitment.

Every Juvederm patient at Oshun starts with a consultation. Twenty minutes, in-person at 9 Devon Road, with Dr. Rockhead. No syringe is opened, no quote is signed, no pressure either way. You leave with a plan and a price — or you leave with neither.

The honest answers

Nine questions every nervous first-timer asks.

Open any of them. We've written each answer the way Dr. Rockhead would actually say it — not the way a brochure would.

How many millilitres of Juvederm will I need?
Typical starting volumes: lips 0.5–1.0 ml · cheeks 1–2 ml per side · nasolabial folds 1 ml · marionette lines 0.5–1 ml · jawline contouring 2–4 ml per side. Your exact plan is determined at consultation based on anatomy, volume loss, and the look you want.
How long until I see results?
You see the volume immediately. Initial swelling settles over the first 3–5 days and the final look is visible by day 14. Oshun sends a 2-week settle-check email so any adjustment can be planned before an event.
How long does Juvederm last?
Duration depends on area: lips 6–12 months, cheeks and jawline 12–18 months, nasolabial folds 9–12 months. Movement-heavy areas metabolise filler faster. Lifestyle factors (high-cardio routines, very low body fat) can shorten duration.
What's the difference between filler at a medspa and Juvederm at Oshun?
At Oshun, every placement is performed by a board-certified physician (Dr. Rockhead), with per-area millilitre planning and a 2-week settle check. Hyaluronidase is stocked on site for same-visit reversal if needed. Many medspas delegate filler to non-physician staff and don't stock reversal agents.
Is Juvederm safe? What are the side effects?
Juvederm has been FDA-approved for cosmetic use since 2006 with extensive safety data. Common, temporary side effects include mild bruising, swelling, redness, and tenderness at injection sites for 1–7 days. Rare but serious risks (vascular occlusion, nodules, asymmetry) are minimized through physician-only placement, careful anatomical mapping, and the on-site availability of hyaluronidase to dissolve filler if needed.
Can I get Juvederm if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
No. Juvederm is contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding as a precaution — though there's no evidence of harm, formal safety data in this group does not exist. Dr. Rockhead reviews your medical history at consultation; please disclose pregnancy plans, breastfeeding status, autoimmune conditions, and current medications.
How much does Juvederm cost at Oshun?
Juvederm at Oshun is priced per millilitre. A written quote with proposed areas, millilitres for each, and total cost is issued at consultation — because the right volume depends on your anatomy, the look you want, and which areas are being treated together. Two patients with the same starting concern often need very different amounts.
Can Juvederm be reversed if I don't like the result?
Yes. Because Juvederm is hyaluronic acid, it can be partially or fully dissolved using hyaluronidase, which Oshun stocks on site. This is one of the most important safety advantages of HA fillers over permanent fillers. Most "I don't like it" situations are addressed by waiting for the 2-week settle — but real dissolution is always an option if needed.
How do I book Juvederm at Oshun?
Booking is a two-step process: a private consultation first, then scheduling of the procedure once you and Dr. Rockhead agree on the plan. WhatsApp (876) 676-6297 or schedule a consultation from this page.
