What is a PRP breast lift, and what can it do?
A little of your blood is taken from your arm and spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma. After a numbing cream, the plasma is injected into the breasts with a thin needle.
What it is offered for
The skin of the breasts: its texture and tone, the Cleveland Clinic says.
If you want a lifted shape
A surgical breast lift, called a mastopexy, raises the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the tissue around them, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons says. Oshun does not offer surgical lifts, so ask Dr. Rockhead about your options.

Have these checked first
A lump in the breast or armpit, a nipple that has turned in, dimpled skin on the breast, or bloodstained discharge from a nipple. The NHS says always get a breast lump checked by a doctor. Have any of these seen before any injection. If a mammogram is due, have it before any injection, and tell Dr. Rockhead.

Dr. Charles Rockhead is a board-certified Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with more than thirty years of practice in Kingston. He is the Medical Director of Oshun Cosmetic Services and the founding physician of Amadeo Medical Group, the parent clinical practice.
Tell us every medicine and supplement you take, and whether you are pregnant, could be, or are breastfeeding. We ask you to avoid anti-inflammatory painkillers and supplements that thin the blood for a week before. If a doctor prescribed one, or a blood thinner, do not stop it on your own: tell us. If you take a blood thinner, this treatment is not for you.

The blood draw
We take blood from your arm, as for a blood test, and spin it to separate the plasma. Numbing cream goes on the skin of the breasts.

The injections
The plasma goes in through a thin needle. The Cleveland Clinic says the injections generally take about 20 minutes, and the procedure usually less than an hour.

Most people go straight back to their normal day.

What to expect, and when to get help.
What is common
Most people have no side effects. Some have bruising, swelling or tenderness for a few days, and the blood draw and injections can hurt, usually mildly.
The risks
With PRP, the blood must stay sterile, or there is a chance of infection, and it must be your own. An injury to a nerve is possible too.
Call us straight away
On (876) 676-6297, for bleeding, heavy bruising, pain, or swelling that does not go away, or if the skin of a breast turns hot, painful and swollen (redness can be hard to see on dark skin), which can be an infection. We are closed at night and from Friday to Sunday. If we are closed or you cannot reach us, see a doctor that day.
Go to a hospital at once
If that skin is hot and swollen and you also have a very high temperature or feel hot, cold or shivery, a fast heartbeat or fast breathing, feel dizzy or faint, have cold, clammy or pale skin, or become confused: the NHS lists these as signs of a serious infection. Do not drive yourself.
A new lump later
Have any new breast lump checked by a doctor, whatever you think caused it.

Who should not have it?
Who should not have it
The Cleveland Clinic does not recommend it in pregnancy, while breastfeeding, after breast cancer, or if you are at high risk of breast cancer. DermNet lists low platelets, a clotting problem, blood thinners, any infection and long-term liver disease as reasons not to have PRP, and the American Academy of Dermatology adds any blood cancer, or skin cancer where it would go.
Hepatitis C or HIV
Tell Dr. Rockhead if you have either. The American Academy of Dermatology does not recommend PRP for the skin in someone with hepatitis C or HIV.
Mammograms
Whether this treatment can affect a mammogram is unclear, the Cleveland Clinic says. Tell whoever does your mammogram that you have had it.
Implants or past breast surgery
Tell Dr. Rockhead first.

What it costs
We estimate it at US$1,500 to US$2,500. The consultation with Dr. Rockhead starts at J$11,000. Your written quote gives the total before any blood is taken.
When we are open
Monday and Wednesday, 10 AM to 6 PM, and Tuesday and Thursday, 10 AM to 4 PM. Consultations start at 1 PM.
