Care by an OB/GYN
Every procedure at Oshun is reviewed and led by a board-certified Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. Dr. Rockhead is a physician first — the same one who treats women's health on the other side of his practice.
Menopause Management at Oshun is led by Dr. Charles Rockhead — diagnostic evaluation, individualised treatment plans (hormone therapy when appropriate; non-hormonal options when not), and ongoing care for the years on either side of menopause.

Three decades as a practicing OB/GYN at Amadeo Medical Group, the parent clinical practice. Every Menopause Management plan is reviewed by a physician who has cared for women through pregnancy, surgery, perimenopause, and post-natal recovery.
Every Menopause Management patient leaves consultation with a written plan: areas, technique, timing, recovery, cost. Returning patients refine the same plan rather than starting from scratch every visit.
Oshun's approach favours conservative, considered care over aggressive intervention. Decisions are made in conversation with you, options are presented in plain language, and consent is informed at every step.
Menopause care disappoints when symptoms are treated piecemeal by different specialists, when HRT discussion is avoided due to outdated risk perceptions, or when long-term health planning is neglected.
Menopause is not just "hot flushes that go away." The hormonal transition reshapes bone metabolism, cardiovascular risk, sleep architecture, mood regulation, sexual function, and weight regulation. Piecemeal care misses the integrated picture.
Patients also tell us they leave standard primary-care visits feeling unheard about symptoms that affect daily quality of life — brain fog, sleep, libido, weight. These are real symptoms with treatable causes.
At Oshun, we don't run that model. Menopause Management here is physician-led from consultation through follow-up, with a written plan in your hands and a follow-up visit on the calendar before you leave.

A Menopause Management visit at Oshun follows a clear sequence — from consultation through the procedure itself through follow-up. Here is what happens, step by step.
Before any Menopause Management is scheduled, you meet Dr. Rockhead in person at 9 Devon Road. He reviews your medical history, examines you as appropriate, and explains the options — including the option not to proceed. You leave with a clear written plan and a quote.
Bring records of recent mammogram, bone density (DEXA), lipid panel, prior gynaecological care, family history, and current medications.
Dr. Rockhead takes a comprehensive history covering all menopause-relevant symptom domains, performs a focused examination, orders appropriate labs (hormonal, lipid, thyroid, fasting glucose, vitamin D as indicated), and writes a structured management plan.
Follow the prescribed plan. Report breakthrough bleeding, new chest pain or shortness of breath, leg swelling, or any concerning new symptoms. Initial assessment within 6–8 weeks; comprehensive review every 6–12 months. DEXA every 1–2 years.

Most first-time patients arrive with the same set of unspoken questions. They are answered below in the order most people think them — from "how much will I need" to "what if I'm pregnant."
| What it is | Menopause management is a comprehensive approach to women's mid-life health that covers vasomotor symptoms, sleep, mood, sexual health, bone health, cardiovascular risk, and weight changes. It combines hormonal therapy (where appropriate), non-hormonal options, lifestyle modification, and screening. |
|---|---|
| How long it's been around | Comprehensive menopause care has been a growing area of gynaecological practice. Modern menopause-aware care recognises this as a whole-body transition. |
| What we treat with it | Perimenopausal symptom patterns; post-menopausal symptoms and long-term health risks; and decision-making about HRT vs non-hormonal management. |
| How much you'll need | Ongoing care. Initial workup followed by periodic review and adjustment. |
|---|---|
| Will it hurt? | Non-invasive care: history, examination, blood work, and prescription management. |
| How long the visit takes | Initial comprehensive consultation 60 minutes; follow-up visits 30 minutes. |
| Time off after | No downtime. |
| When you'll see results | Vasomotor symptoms respond within 2–4 weeks of starting HRT. Non-hormonal symptom management can take 4–8 weeks. |
|---|---|
| The days before your visit | Bring records of recent mammogram, bone density (DEXA), lipid panel, prior gynaecological care, family history, and current medications. |
| Right after your visit | Follow the prescribed plan. Report breakthrough bleeding, new chest pain or shortness of breath, leg swelling, or any concerning new symptoms. |
| Two-week follow-up | Initial assessment within 6–8 weeks; comprehensive review every 6–12 months. DEXA every 1–2 years. |
