Four things that are true of every visit

Care by an OB/GYN

Every procedure at Oshun is reviewed and led by a board-certified Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. Dr. Rockhead is a physician first — the same one who treats women's health on the other side of his practice.

30 years caring for women

Three decades as a practicing OB/GYN at Amadeo Medical Group, the parent clinical practice. Every Cold Plunge plan is reviewed by a physician who has cared for women through pregnancy, surgery, perimenopause, and post-natal recovery.

Written plan first

Every Cold Plunge patient leaves consultation with a written plan: areas, technique, timing, recovery, cost. Returning patients refine the same plan rather than starting from scratch every visit.

Conservative, considered

Oshun's approach favours conservative, considered care over aggressive intervention. Decisions are made in conversation with you, options are presented in plain language, and consent is informed at every step.

The honest version

Why cold plunge sometimes disappoints.

Cold plunge disappoints when patients overestimate the effect for chronic conditions, push intensity beyond tolerance, or use it as a substitute for medical care.

Cold plunge has real physiological effects but is not magic. Patients expecting it to solve depression, chronic pain, or metabolic disease are usually disappointed.

Forcing oneself into longer or colder immersions than tolerance allows produces shivering, aversion, and sometimes injury. Conservative starting parameters with gradual adaptation work better.

At Oshun, we don't run that model. Cold Plunge here is physician-led from consultation through follow-up, with a written plan in your hands and a follow-up visit on the calendar before you leave.

The honest answers

Nine questions every nervous first-timer asks.

Open any of them. We've written each answer the way Dr. Rockhead would actually say it — not the way a brochure would.

How cold?
10–15°C (50–59°F). Colder is not better.
How long?
1–5 minutes per session.
Weight loss?
Direct caloric burn is small. Indirect effects (recovery, sleep, stress) may support weight management.

Many regular users plunge daily. Listen to your body.
Safe in pregnancy?
Generally avoided due to potential effects on uterine blood flow and limited safety data.
Chronic pain?
May provide brief acute relief. Chronic pain warrants medical workup.
Risks?
Hypothermia with overly long immersion; cardiovascular events in patients with uncontrolled disease.
Insurance?
No.
